I just posted the article, if you don't like their review, contact Game Informer. It's worth noting that they gave Gears of War a 9.5 as well, so it's not like they hate MS or anything. I don't see why you're so mad that Insomniac has apparently made a great game.

From listening to the IGN podcast today, they say that every single game they've tried has worked, and these seem to only be occurring with the Japanese versions of these games. But yeah, 200 games out of 8k isn't bad. It'll probably all be patched soon.

They said that everything that followed their QA standards (they had a different name for it) would work. This will be patched anyway. The backwards compatability thing is nice, but I agree with 1, I could care less about playing old games on a new system. Very rarely do I plan on playing old games on the PS3. An exception will be God of War and Shadow of the Colossus.

You can't compare apples and oranges from one console to another. I mean, you can, but it's pointless. For the 360, it didn't really have a killer app until possibly Oblivion, definitely with Gears of War. It had some good games at launch, but it didn't have a standout game until Oblivion (which won Game of the Year). All they're saying is that is a must have game, and that every PS3 owner should buy it. Don't see why everyone has to get their panties in a bunch over a great review for a...

Actually it's already been called the killer app for the PS3 by at least two different places. Gamespot hasn't put up their review yet so we don't have their scores to go by. Who cares about Halo killer, I don't think it would be that hard to beat that. If they said Half Life 2 killer, that'd be much better.

Yeah the article would have been much better if they left out the digs at the Xbox. There were other reasons to have an Xbox: KOTOR, Jade Empire (if you liked it), of course the Halo games, Forza, etc. I never played it on Xbox so I'm looking forward to it. Maybe they'll release the next "proper" sequel on both platforms.

Yeah that is weird, I noticed a Gears of War review somewhere that they gave a high 9 to, but when I added the scores and averaged them I got a mid 8. I just looked for it on Gamespot, IGN, Eurogamer, and Gamezone and couldn't find it. And 1UP mentioned all the problems they had with the game, then gave it a perfect score. I didn't understand that. Both games are good, I'm sure, but sometimes I don't understand how they calculate the ratings.

Because the devs chose to go for more enemies on screen, larger environments, and more physics instead of small environments, several enemies at a time, and better textures you're saying that the PS3 can't handle higher textures. That's ridiculous. A lot of games in production are showing great textures: Heavenly Sword, Lair, Motorstorm, etc. It's just what the devs choose to focus on that determines how their game looks. The next Resistance will probably see them upgrade the textures a l...

I'll predict a 9.2 from Gamespot.

He must not be that popular, I hadn't heard of him before reading this on Joystiq the other day. But it figures that they care about what he says, since it appears that he heavily favors Nintendo.

Honestly, the game sounded pretty boring until I got to the part where they'll be adding 5 new scenarios a week based on some signature plays during the week in NBA games. That is interesting, and may actually have me renting a sports title. I'm still not much for the plastic looking characters in next-gen video games.

8.5 from 1up and from that editor in particular is like a mid to high 9 from any other site. Not a bad review, wish that 1up did video reviews though.

What's more surprising is that Joystiq posted something negative about the Wii. *Gasp*

Now now, there's no reason to say the same thing in every thread. Granted, if I paid that much for a console and then it crapped out, only to have to pay more to get it fixed I'd be upset too. I don't think 360 fans can talk about the PS2 having problems anymore, as they seem to have their own with the 360. I really hope the PS3 is a reliable console and lasts as long as my PS2 has, which is about 5-6 years I think.

What did malachi23 say that hasn't been said a million times already? I was just responding to his comments. I know I didn't say anything mindblowing, but someone had to say it. It's better than saying "Riiiiiiiiiidge Racer!!!111" in any thread that mentions Kaz Hirai or Ridge Racer. :) But yeah it is about time for it to be released.

MS has hardly any games out right now that appeal to the Japanese. They're making some steps by getting Lost Planet, Too Human, and Blue Dragon in the future but it could be too late. But they're going to have to work harder than that to really get the Japanese on board. For every one of MS's JRPG's, Sony will probably have 5-10. Japan likes RPG's, not FPS's. That's pretty much what it boils down to. And also, like it or not, Sony and Nintendo have the Asian market pretty much wrapped u...

I see what you're saying, but he was stepping out on a limb by saying that you'll have a Playstation Network ID and then a separate ID for each game. This has been refuted, and confirmed that there will be one ID for all games.
I have no problem with you preferring Xbox Live. I just don't like it when Execs from either company say things that they don't know what they're talking about and before information has been confirmed. There was also the claim that 1080p at 60 frames per ...

This does look great, it looks like a possible sleeper hit IMO. It's very nice to see the Unreal Engine being used in something other than shooters. About the rumble thing, I agree and disagree with you. On the agree part, I would pay $5 extra for Sony to have included it in the SixAxis. On the disagree side, I bought a Logitech (or is it Pelican?) wireless controller about a year ago when I got Black and I didn't notice until after I got it that it didn't have rumble. At first I was rea...

Agreed, and also agreed with #1, when has EA come up with anything innovative? For every 1 game that they come out with that's great, there's about 5-10 games of rehashed crap.

Here's a quote from Microsoft's Andre Vignaud (Ozymandia):

"Yes Virginia, that's exactly what this means. Even though I already have a "Sony ID", I may have to create a new "Resistance ID" to play. And then start thinking about just how broken the experience is when you try to invite someone to a game. Do you send it via the Resistance UI? What screenname do I send it to? If I want to add you to my "Sony ID" friends list, do I need to send you...
